8 May 2019 – Malaysia climbed up 3 steps to reach the all time high rank of 45. The latest ranking was published by World Rugby on 6th May 2019 after Malaysia test match against Sri Lanka on Saturday.

Malaysia produced a good performance to overcome Sri Lanka 31 – 26 in the match that took place at Bukit Jalil National Stadium. That match is the second test match as Malaysia is preparing for the upcoming 2019 ARC Premier.

Malaysia remained the 5th best rank from Asia as the Hibiscus is still behind Japan (11), Hong Kong (25), South Korea (30) and Sri Lanka (44). Malaysia will meet both Hong Kong and South Korea in the Asia Rugby Championship Premier, scheduled to start on 18th May 2019.
